Building on knowledge and collaboration
By Norman Chambers, managing director
It’s been a busy month here at the NACFB since our September newsletter. We’ve staged two Members’ days, a Patrons’ day, several compliance workshops and a board strategy day. Looking ahead, we have four NACFB roadshows with Barcadia scheduled (in Newcastle upon Tyne, Barnsley, Reading and Derby) and a dedicated NACFB asset finance day in Bolton.
It’s a packed schedule but, as a testament to our ambition for the next 12 months, 2018 promises to be even busier. We listened to the feedback from our latest Members’ days and we’ll be seeking to support a wider range of events across the country.
If we build it, please do come! These events and workshops are an invaluable way of enhancing your existing knowledge base of both the industry we operate in and the products, support and services within it.
We have also recently chaired a meeting with the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries in a bid to pool ideas and resources, and best prepare for the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) due in May 2018. The collaboration enables both parties to view the regulation through the eyes of an intermediary and tailor ongoing guidance towards those who operate specifically within our world of commercial finance. The partnership will be mutually distributing updates over the coming months.
The collaboration forms part of the NACFB’s commitment to preserving the integrity of our membership and ensuring that we leap regulatory hurdles together. Industry regulation is only heading one way and we want all our Members to remain both ahead of the curve and fully compliant. A full list of upcoming NACFB Compliance Services workshops can be found here.
Closer on our horizon is the annual NACFB gala dinner on 30th November. The AGM will take place on the same day and will be the first place to hear how your feedback is helping shape the Association’s future. Please do register your attendance at the AGM here.
I look forward to seeing you there.
