  • Short Term Finance - We can help your clients access finance to purchase or refinance property quickly and efficiently, whether they have the opportunity to add value by making some light or heavy refurbishments ahead of a resale or simply want to acquire the property quickly.
  • Residential Investment Products - We don’t just finance the easy options. We lend on a number of properties from single investment property, multiple units, HMO/student lets and portfolio finance to both individuals and limited companies.
  • Commercial Investment Products - We fund both commercial and semi-commercial properties with a choice of term and repayment options. This can be interest-only, part capital of full repayment facilities with terms from 3 to 30 years.
  • Trading businesses - We lend to trading business with retail, leisure, light industrial and office premises with both part capital and full repayment options available.

  • Karen Bennett
    Managing Director, Commercial Mortgages

    Karen has over 16 years’ experience in the commercial mortgages industry. She joined Commercial First as an underwriter in 2002 she also helped to set up their systems and processes. In 2004 Karen moved into the sales arena as an BDM managing the Central South area, establishing a network of accredited brokers. She was also integral in building the affinity partner offering to support referral business from Barclays, Lloyds and Leeds Building Society.

    Karen is now responsible for the sales and marketing for commercial lending which includes product research and design, distribution as well as marketing. Karen is committed to ensuring that our products, people and services remain the best in the market.

  • Lisa Crane
    Customer Services Director, Property Finance

    Lisa began her mortgage career at Mortgage Intelligence in Bournemouth before moving to London and managing various teams at Mortgage Times, the mortgage packager. She joined Commercial First in 2006, initially as a Case Manager before going on to manage one of the processing teams. In 2011 she became Deputy Head of New Business.

    At Shawbrook, Lisa has played a key part in improving processes, introducing new initiatives to manage the daily workflows of the teams and constantly striving to get the best out of her people. She is now responsible for the day-to-day running of all lending operations within the business and is committed to delivering a first class service on all cases.

    Sales Director, Commercial Mortgages

    Emma has over 12 years’ experience in the commercial and buy-to-let mortgage industry. Emma left a large IFA network to join CHL as a Business Development Manager for London and the South. In 2006, Emma was headhunted to be part of the original sales team at Commercial First, where she significantly contributed to the success of the business.

    Now as Regional Development Manager for the South at Shawbrook Bank, Emma is dedicated to working with her vast network of broker partners to assist them in winning as much business as possible and listening to them to ensure that Shawbrook’s products are aligned with the needs of the market.

    Commercial Mortgages Sales Desk

    The Sales desk works alongside the field sales team, providing our brokers and introducers with support and comments on any complex or unusual proposals including confirming our appetite and providing indicative terms.  This team is office-based, which results in them being able to respond quickly. The team is made up of David Humphrey and Glenn Brown who have over 50 years’ commercial banking experience between them and are able to help with all of your enquiries. Should there be the need for further guidance, this team sits next to our mandated Lending Teams who are available to support where required.

    We also have a small team of Business Development Executives whose key responsibility is supporting the field sales team and generating new introducers and potential broker partners.  Kelly Houlder-Greenway and Luke Mudd are on hand to talk through our products, criteria and processes and discuss the options available in how to work with Shawbrook.
